The Rubens at the Palace is part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection.
President & Founder Beatrice Tollman has built Red Carnation Hotels with a vision for service excellence and a passion for generous hospitality. Today the collection proudly stands at 20 exceptional properties around the world, each unique and special, whilst sharing the founding values that define the family-owned and run business.
The hotel collection is lovingly named after the signature flower Mrs. Tollman’s husband always wears, and this symbol of hospitality is also worn by every member of the team.
There are miles of stunning walks in Guernsey But one of the prettiest has to be a walk through Bluebell Woods in March and April. Located at the southern end of St Peter Port, within walking distance of the town centre, you will find Bluebell Woods. Aptly named, in springtime the woodland floor becomes a carpet of blue flowers beneath the budding tree canopy. A wonderful place to walk at any time of year with trails leading onto the cliff paths and wonderful views from the south-east of the island. Don’t forget your camera!
A manageable cliff walk from St Peter Port to Fermain, beautiful all year round but particularly in spring when bluebells pop up in the woods. Fermain Bay is popular for swimming and can also be accessed by bus
or car with a short (but very steep) walk down the hill.
The Fermain Beach café offers drinks, ice cream, cakes and sandwiches – the seafood sandwich is a favourite – with chunky chips if you have walked there!
La Carrière Equestrian Centre is the ideal place to be if you are a keen rider. Lessons are available for all levels and ages, and special arrangements can be made for hacks out towards L’Ancresse and Ladies Bay.
There are a number of great beaches for surfing in Guernsey but Vazon offers perhaps the best options for both experienced and novices. Guernsey Surf School is also located here offering lessons for those wishing to learn or improve their skills.
