The heart of Guernsey
The only five-star hotel on the island, with panoramic sea views
Cairngorms, Highlands Scotland
We are inspired by our beautiful surroundings, deep in the Scottish Highlands. Each of our bedrooms showcase panoramic views of the spectacular landscape, while the verdant countryside is home to a wide variety of wildlife, from Golden Eagle and Osprey to Red Deer Stag and Pine Martin, as well as an abundance of wild flowers, plants and trees.
The Duke of Richmond Hotel stands on the site originally occupied by what is generally accepted to be Guernsey’s oldest hotel - in 'Berry’s History of Guernsey', dated 1815, there is a charming engraving of Grover’s Hotel, and this appears to be on the exact site of the present building.
Expect warm smiles at every turn, a host of thoughtful touches, sumptuous rooms and suites, and delicious cuisine, all set on the beautiful island of Guernsey.
Led by General Manager Gareth Byrne, The Duke of Richmond Hotel is a family of passionate people, with warm attentive service, committed to giving the best in all we do. Our friendly, personalised ethos embraces every aspect of our guests’ experiences, creating the perfect welcome to our cosy boutique hotel.
Exceeding expectations at every turn, our historic hotel has a team who take genuine pride in delivering impeccable service. With a host of thoughtful touches, guests are warmly welcomed at The Duke of Richmond Hotel. An easy stroll to the harbour with sweeping views of St Peter Port, our luxurious hotel overlooks a quiet park.
We pride ourselves on our carefully designed and memorable experiences for guests to enjoy. From outdoor pursuits to healing therapies, our knowledgeable team ensures every stay is as seamless and personalised as possible.
The Duke of Richmond Hotel enjoys an excellent reputation for superb dining, a remarkable cellar and a stylish bar. Popular with local residents and guests alike, watch our talented chefs at work through the glass walled kitchen.
"The Duke of Richmond Hotel joined the collection in 2011. I was thrilled to join the team as General Manager in 2018, after working with our sister property in Guernsey, The Old Government House Hotel.
There are many aspects of my role that I find rewarding. I was delighted to oversee a project that added two luxury apartments to our hotel. Dating back to 1865, the townhouse apartments have been lovingly restored offering two split-level, two-bedroom apartments with spectacular views.
I love getting out to meet our local producers. We source as many regional ingredients as possible to feature on our menus, sharing our delicious Guernsey produce with our guests - from Herm Oysters to local artisan gin.
We further support local producers by providing immersive experiences for our guests. Hop on a RIB across to Herm to see the oyster beds, wander around the Rocquette Cider orchard, meet the team at le Hechet Farm for ice cream and return to The Duke to sample an organic charcuterie platter from Wallow Farm.
We are also surrounded by stunning cliffs, offering walks for all abilities and beautiful beaches with an impressive sea swimming community for those brave enough to take a dip. Our team takes pride in the Guernsey landscape, taking part in regular beach cleans.
I feel proud to be part of a group that makes every guests’ holiday matter and we have a superb team to make that happen."
