Red Carnation Hotels is delighted to announce that The Duke of Richmond Hotel in Guernsey has become part of its award-winning collection of luxury, family-run boutique hotels.

Perfectly located in St Peter Port, the three-star Duke of Richmond overlooks a quiet park and the marinas, with fantastic views of the harbour and neighbouring islands of Herm and Sark.  It has 76 bedrooms, a large restaurant, stylish cocktail bar, an outside terrace with heated pool and function space.

The hotel is just a five minute walk from The Old Government House Hotel & Spa (OGH), an existing member of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, which earlier this summer became the first and only five star hotel in Guernsey.

Under the direction of president and founder of Red Carnation Hotels, Mrs Beatrice Tollman, The Duke of Richmond will undergo an extensive upgrade programme, which will include the refurbishment of the bedrooms and public areas and the addition of another restaurant.

Commenting on the acquisition, Jonathan Raggett, Managing Director of Red Carnation Hotels, said:

“We are very excited about bringing the Duke of Richmond into the portfolio.  Mrs Tollman and her projects team will now work their magic to transform it from a very successful three-star property to the best four-star on the island, making it a brilliant sister to the five-star OGH.

We welcome General Manager Stephen Purtill and his team to the Red Carnation family.   We will be supporting them with additional staff and providing them with access to our full training programme to ensure that the Red Carnation guest service ethos, which is integral to our business and our success, runs throughout all operations at the Duke.”

Stephen Purtill, General Manager of the Duke of Richmond, added:

“Red Carnation Hotels is an award-winning collection and it is fantastic for the team at the Duke of Richmond to be part of such an admired brand.  We’re pleased that the Red Carnation management team appreciate the existing quality and further potential of the hotel and we’re looking forward to bringing new levels of comfort, luxury and service to our guests here.”
